The Church of San Filippo Neri is located in the Schneider (Sartori) area, now Rebeschini, in Roana.
Initially, the Church was an oratory belonging to a wealthy family of brothers Fabio, Francesco, and Marco Sartori.
The oratory was built in 1729 and completed in 1730, and it also had a two-story sacristy, in which, until before the War of 1915, an intricately carved armchair bearing the Sartori family crest was preserved. The panel above the altar depicted St. Filippo Neri enraptured in ecstasy with sacred parameters, addressing the Blessed Virgin Mary with the infant Jesus. A little lower down, there was an image of St. Anthony of Padua.
The oratory was destroyed by Italian and English bombings between 1917 and 1918, as the area was held by the Austrians.
In 1930, the church was rebuilt on the same site as the previous one, but with a different design. It was designed by architect Simeone Frigo of Roana and constructed by the Giovanni de Guio company of Mezaselva on commission from the municipality of Roana. The style of the church is classical, Tuscan order.
On May 26, 1931, it was inaugurated, and Don Giuseppe Rebeschini, a native of the area, celebrated the first mass. Some frescoes were commissioned by Don Angelo Cerato, the parish priest of Roana, while others were commissioned by the De Guio construction company from Prof. Mattielli of Soave (Verona).
In the past, many religious services were held in the church, including the feast of the Patron Saint (May 26) and the closing of the Rogations. In recent years, mass is still celebrated on May 26, in honor of the Saint, and on the last Thursday of August.
