Palazzo del Doglione

Palazzo del Doglione

Piazza Castello , Marostica VI - 36063

Known in the Venetian era as Chancellery or "Rocca di Mezzo", this large palace is known as Palazzo della Loggia or Doglione from the nineteenth century. Now it is the result of a reconstruction carried out in 1928-1930 following the demolition of the original structure.

It has a rectangular shape with a crenellated tower, enriched by a bell loggia and embellished by a unique sundial of fine workmanship.

Under the Venetian government (1404-1797) it housed offices and institutions of great importance for the life of the community: the municipal and notary chancellery, the archive of the College of Notaries, the Armoury and from 1676, the Mount of Piety. In the second half of the nineteenth century the Doglione became the seat of the Agrarian Committee, the Fire Brigade and from January 1893, the offices of the Popular Bank of Marostica, founded on October 2, 1892, began to operate.

Currently, in the two floors above the loggia there is the administrative and managerial headquarter of the Bank of Marostica. In the large meeting room, on the first floor of the Doglione, you can admire Il Buon Governo, a large work in majolica ceramic panels by the artist Gigi Carron.
