Villa Angaran delle Stelle - Cattaneo

Harmonious building from the 18th century in Vicenza, located within a park on Via Braglio. It is one of the most refined expressions of the 1700s; designed in 1718, perhaps by architect Muttoni, it is in neoclassical style. It consists of a complex with a manor house, caretaker's house, tenant houses, park, and chapel. In an underground passage leading from the caretaker's house to the cellar, the date 1600 is inscribed, suggesting the existence of an older part. The current owner undertook a radical restoration of all parts in 1969. A staircase without a balustrade leads to the entrance. On the façade, the noble floor features a beautiful semicircular arched entrance framed with stone, as well as the side windows. Two pairs of pilasters on both sides and two central ones, all with Ionic capitals, create five smooth fields in the plaster. The architrave, broken in the center, supports a beautiful central tympanum with the coat of arms of the Angaran Delle Stelle family. On the roof, four statues rise on both sides and one in the center, atop the peak of the pediment. The honor salon, with Venetian-style structure, is used for conferences, concerts, and parties. The walls display fresco paintings with mythological subjects. The ceiling is adorned with plaster stucco and allegorical figures of the arts. The adjoining chapel of the Transfiguration, formerly dedicated to St. Sixtus, dates back to the 15th-16th century and mixes Gothic and classical characteristics. It retains a beautiful stone altar with statues by Marinali and traces of frescoes from the 1400s in the triumphal arch.
