Via M. Interrotto , Camporovere di Roana - 36010

The fort was built in the second half of the 19th century (probably in 1883) at the behest of Gen. Piannel, it is located on the homonymous mountain that rises above Camporovere.

Its main functions were those of an observatory and border barracks, to protect the area below the Val d'Assa, which was the main connection between the Plateau and the Habsburg Empire.

The fortress was built on the basis of a military architecture project that revealed some late medieval features, clearly visible in the six gigantic central arches and the imposing side ramparts with 115 rifle stations. The fort is made entirely of rectangular stones supported by two side towers and surrounded by a moat. Built on two floors, inside it had a large courtyard with stone slabs covering the water tank below.
On the ground floor were the main services, including the guardhouse, the kitchen, various storerooms and stables, while on the upper floor were the accommodation for the troops.

The building housed for a long time a company of the Alpine Battalion " Bassano" and later, it was occupied by the Austrians on 27 May 1916 during the Strafexpedition and remained in their possession until the end of the war.

It was mainly used as an observatory, due to its dominant position, and was abandoned because it was heavily damaged after the Battle of the Solstice in June 1918.
Later, in more recent times, it has been refurbished and it has been possible to recover the exteriors and interiors. Finally, the name “Interrotto” does not mean that the fortress was not completed but comes from the ancient Cimbrian language “Hinterknotto”, which means “mountain placed to the north”.
