An enchanting historical testimony is represented in Breganze by the ancient icehouse.
The construction is located in the historic center of the town (Piazza Giuseppe Mazzini), in the villa that once belonged to the Laverda family.
Dating back to the Nineteenth century and now perfectly restored, it is open and accessible during specific cultural activities, initiatives, and events such as the Vespaiolona.
The function of the icehouse was to preserve ice that was brought in blocks or in the form of snow from the nearby mountains to best preserve perishable food before the invention of the refrigerator and freezer. Sometimes the icehouse was also used for therapeutic purposes.
