In the mid-1930s, Valdagno was becoming increasingly populated, but in the Oltre Agno district, there was no church, and the archpriest of St. Clement understood immediately that this void would lead to a disconnection from parish life and from the parish mass. Therefore, he obtained permission from Count Marzotto to use the hall of the social institutions' kindergarten to celebrate two masses on Sundays. The liturgical service began on December 10, 1939. The following year, the Vicentine painter Gina Barrera Massaria donated a painting depicting St. Gaetano to Monsignor Zaffonato, which was placed inside the kindergarten. Thus, on July 7, 1959, Bishop Zinato elevated the church of San Gaetano to the dignity of a parish church. On August 21 of the same year, Don Giovanni Barbieri was appointed the first parish priest. In the 1960s, renovation work was carried out on the façade and more; a new altar was built, a baptistery was added, along with the painting of the Last Judgment by Bruno Vedovato and the statue of St. Gaetano. Finally, between 1998-99, the church was completed with a mosaic of fiery marbles crafted by Albano Poli.
