The church of Saints Felice and Fortunato in Fara Vicentino has an ancient origin. Initially dedicated to Saints Ermacora and Fortunato, under Lombard influence, the first patron was replaced by Saint Felice.
As the first parish church in the area, it remained the main point of reference for the inhabitants of the municipality until the 12th century, who, after a period of abandonment, decided to rebuild the church that had fallen into ruin. In 1494, the new form of the church was consecrated: the bell tower of the previous building remained, on which the date 1237 is inscribed.
Testifying to the local religious devotion are also some frescoes dating back to 1490-1494: a Madonna in throne with Child and, on either side, representations of Saints Felice and Fortunato.
Renovation works on the church took place in the 19th century, with an important reconstruction from scratch of the ancient site, accompanied by a polygonal-shaped chapel. The church of Saints Felice and Fortunato is just one example of the numerous small churches scattered throughout the Vicentine foothills, demonstrating the strong bond between religious faith and territory.
