If you arrive by car, go along Ponte della Libertà following directions to Venice, they are clearly marked. Even if you want to reach Venice Lido by car, there is line nr. 17 (ACTV ferry-boat) that leave from Tronchetto (exit Tronchetto Ferry is at the end of Ponte della Libertà and just before Piazzale Roma) to Venice Lido (S.Nicolò Ferry stop).
A travel card is the best and the less expensive solution to visit Venice, it can be used for most of Venice public transport (waterbuses and local buses).
