Leaving behind the Chapel of the Scrovegni in Padua and continuing towards Piazza Eremitani, one encounters the imposing walls of Palazzo Mantua Benavides. This residence was referred to as "home" by Marco Mantua Benavides, a respected professor of Law at the University of Padua, who had an international reputation as an expert in constitutional law. He was a great collector and patron and commissioned the sculptor and architect Bartolomeo Ammannati for several architectural and decorative elements that characterize the property: the statue of Hercules in the courtyard, the triumphal arch, and the family tomb in the nearby Church of the Eremitani. Today, Palazzo Mantua Benavides is a charming residence that offers its guests the opportunity to stay in an atmosphere of peace and elegance, thanks to the few exquisitely furnished rooms that guide visitors through the history of this place.
