Chiesa del Santissimo Redentore

It's one of the most famous and revered Churches of Venice and the center of one of the most heartfelt festival in the City. It was erected on the initiative of the Senate in 1577 to honor a vow made during the terrible plague of 1575. The work was commissioned to Andrea Palladio, and represents one of the greatest architectural masterpieces of the Renaissance. It was completed after the death of the famous architect (1580) by Antonio da Ponte. The church and the sacristy are rich of works of great importance, which include a lunette by Pietro Vecchia depicting the Virgin. The great hall and the presbytery, preserving valuable works of Paolo Veronese, Jacopo Tintoretto, Francesco Bassano, Paolo Piazza and Jacopo Palma il Giovane.
