Built in the 15th century by the Estensi, initially as a storage for provisions. It was, in fact, called “granaron” by the locals. Only in the 19th century was it renovated and transformed into a theater, according to the design by Antonio Foschini, who was also the architect of the municipal theater of Ferrara. After years of abandonment, it has been completely restored and today shows its elegance in the small square by the river. In the square stands the monument dedicated to Giuseppe Marchiori, an important political figure and director of the Bank of Italy in 1883, built by Giulio Monteverde in 1904.
