Chiesa di Santa Sofia
Piazza del Duomo, 3 , Lendinara (RO) - 45026
Church of very ancient origins, built on the ruins of a pagan temple, was constructed in 1070 as an oratory for the Cattaneo family. After significant deterioration, it was expanded and rebuilt in the 18th century. The façade of the church, as it appears today, only partly reflects the original design due to various renovations between the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century. The interior has three naves and ends with a large apse topped by a dome. The frescoes by Giorgio Ansenni, executed starting in 1796, are particularly striking. Next to the cathedral stands the bell tower, 92.5 meters high, one of the tallest in Italy, built between 1797 and 1857.
