Small and charming church located in front of the south side of the imposing bell tower of the Cathedral Parish. It was built around 1500 and was initially dedicated to Santa Maria delle Grazie. It served as the seat of the Brotherhood of Flagellants. Due to neglect, it fell into such disrepair that it became a barn, was put up for auction, and then purchased and restored by Don Francesco Antonio Baccari, who adorned it with paintings and placed precious relics there, donated to him by Pope Leo XII. In 1822, dedicated to the passing of Saint Joseph, it was reopened for worship as the Baptistery of the Cathedral.
Unfortunately, the beautiful little church and its furnishings, long abandoned, are in a serious state of disrepair that compromises its dignified preservation and use.
