Chiesa della Betata Vergine di Pompei o Chiesetta delle Fosse
Via Gorizia , Rovigo - 45100
Officially dedicated to the Madonna of Pompei, it is known in the city by the name of Chiesetta delle Fosse, the ancient designation of Via Gorizia on which the religious building overlooks, identifying a very poor and unhealthy area of ancient Rovigo. It was commissioned by Don Tommaso Angiari and built according to a design by Eugenio Piva in 1900; the typically neo-Gothic facade is enlivened by the polychrome interplay of gray and red stones and characterized by the presence of a terracotta bas-relief depicting the Madonna del Cammino.
