Loggia dei Nodari

Loggia dei Nodari

Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II , Rovigo - 45100

The Loggia dei Nodari is one of the most representative centers of medieval civil power in Rovigo, overlooking Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II.

The Loggia, built in the 14th century and expanded in the following centuries, was the seat of the city council and municipal government.
The term “Nodari” comes from the Latin notarii, meaning the public notaries who once performed their duties there.
The loggia is characterized by a portico with pointed arches in Gothic style, supported by slender columns, above which an expansive hall with triforium windows and battlements develops, symbolizing civic authority.

Over time, the loggia has undergone various expansions and restorations, while still maintaining its institutional role. Today, in fact, it is the seat of the Municipality of Rovigo, housing the main offices of the city administration. Its central location and austere yet harmonious architectural design make it one of the most recognizable buildings in the city.

Today, the Loggia dei Nodari and the Civic Tower are witnesses to the historical identity of Rovigo and continue to be central elements in the cultural and institutional life of the city, framing the main square with their evocative presence.
