The Monastery Tells Its Story is the culmination of a work path under the scientific direction of Stefano Turolla who, some time ago, during some archival research on the Olivetan Monastery, was struck by the significant presence of manuscripts by Abbot Don Alessandro Rossi. In particular, his attention focused on a codex, the Notabilium, in which the Rodigian abbot meticulously notes all events (from legal issues to construction matters) concerning the Monastery during the period between 1733 and 1765.
The collected material constituted a sort of narrative, almost a tale. The Monastery, through Rossi's writings, and not only, told its story, described itself.
The path unfolds within the Olivetan monastic complex of San Bortolo, now home to the Museum of the Great Rivers. Visitors will be able to learn about the external and internal environments inhabited and used by the Olivetan monks of the Benedictine order.
Path promoted by the Banca del Monte di Rovigo Foundation, in collaboration with the Municipality of Rovigo, the Museum of the Great Rivers, the Rovigo Culture Foundation, the De Amicis Higher Education Institute of Rovigo, and with the sponsorship of the Province of Rovigo.
