Production and sale to the public of honey varieties, in particular organic Barena honey.
The "sandbank honey" is typical of the municipalities of the lagoon gutter where there are sandbanks, that is, the lands that emerged close to and inside the lagoon, which border on the brackish water. The type of flower from which honey derives is the Limonium, called in jargon “fiorella di barena”, which blooms between late June-early July and mid-September.
Due to the continuous degradation of the salt marshes (due to both the wave motion and the scarce protection and maintenance interventions) the areas in which the characteristics of Limonium develop are increasingly rare. therefore, the possibility of producing this particular honey is limited.
The production process requires the hives to be permanent in the salt marshes or, more often, to be brought to the site by the beekeepers in mid-July.
