In neo-Renaissance style, the facade is divided by four Ionic pilasters topped by four Corinthian ones. A fresco by Giovanni Bevilacqua adds a touch of color to the facade, where, inside rather shallow niches, are placed the four statues representing Saint Charles Borromeo, Saint Augustine, Saint Joseph, and Saint Nicholas, the saint to whom the church is dedicated.
Inside, there are several altars made of polychrome marbles and numerous painted altarpieces by illustrious artists.
