The church of S. Maria di Marano, a name that, like that of most of the ancient Vicentine Pies, derives from the name of the Cathedral church, was certainly endowed with the dignity of Pieve, a title that indicates its preeminence over the surrounding chapels. However, in 1303 its territory belonged to the Pieve of Malo.
The church stood on the current hillfort, but it is logical to think that it was previously located in a different place, if before the elevation was occupied by a castle or a watchtower or otherwise by a fortification.
The current parish church has been enlarged several times. In 1763 the community of Marano, as the population was continuously increasing, obtained permission to build a new church that included the old one. It was built in the years immediately following in its current form. It was consecrated in 1884, while the current main altar was inaugurated in 1910. A notable painting by Maganza is in the church.
