The Colli Berici are characterized by lush nature. The area extends in the middle of the Venetian plain, south of the city of Vicenza.
The environment invites you to explore dirt roads in the countryside, mule tracks, and paths in the woods. For example, the Lago di Fimon is waiting to be discovered, a place of significant historical and natural importance due to the presence of typical flora and fauna of wetland areas. A tranquil walk of about five kilometers on unpaved trails will lead you to a landscape you thought was lost forever.
The particular charm of the Colli Berici is also expressed through its limestone which, subject to the phenomenon of karst, shapes the territory creating glimpses of the evocative.
In these hills, where the vine cultivation has ancient origins as old as the presence of man and where the climate also allows for olive cultivation, numerous villas, villages, hermitages, and convents testify how this territory has always been an important attraction for humans.
They certainly deserve a visit: the Santuario della Madonna di Monte Berico at the gates of Vicenza, the famous Villa Capra known as "La Rotonda," one of the masterpieces of Andrea Palladio's architecture, the medieval remains of the Rocca dei Vescovi in Brendola, and the Church of San Giovanni in Monte in Zovencedo. In Nanto, the stone of the Hills is celebrated every year with Nantopietra, an international sculpture exhibition.
In Mossano, you can find the Grotta di San Bernardino, the saint from Siena who used it as a refuge in the 15th century. Surrounded by nature, the cave offers a truly evocative and unique panorama towards the Val di Palù, the Colle di San Pancrazio, the Colli Euganei, and the Venetian plain.
It can also be traversed by bicycle on paved or unpaved roads. Be cautious as it features constant ups and downs, with changes in rhythm and difficulty.
