The trail starts from the church of Mossano, heads towards the mountain and then turns left along the Strido de Castelan that descends to Contrà dei Munari.
From that point, just follow the signs for trail 81.
Points of interest:
- Contrà dei Munari. The road of the mills of Mossano starts with a view of the grinding stones of Mulino Cuchèi. Along the road, one can then glimpse a mill with the typical arched entrance. Passing behind the rustic buildings and arriving at the shed, there is another mill, dated 1904. Upon exiting onto the road and crossing a small bridge, you reach the Fontana di Mossano, which once fed the mills.
- The Prisons. Above the Fontana di Mossano lies one of the most mysterious rock environments in Italy, called Le Prigioni. An ancient palace carved almost entirely into the rock using natural cavities to create rooms, stairs, doors, and windows. Historical sources mention it as a disused place since the 14th century, and it is believed that previously the building was used as a guard post for the possessions of the bishop of Vicenza.
- Colombara. Entering via Colombara, after about 30 meters, one can notice on the left the Covolo della Catibalda, and after two bends, a farmhouse that still retains the porch and a beautiful tower: the Colombara.
- Covoli. Descending to Cà Leopardi, the Covolo di Paìna can be seen, followed by some natural caves still used by shepherds to this day. The largest of these is the Covolo delle Tette, named for its prominent mammillary stalactites.
- Pinnacle of St. Bernardino. After the view from Colle Montruglio with Villa Pigafetta-Camerini, a glimpse of the Pinnacle of St. Bernardino opens up, the only rock tower in the Colli Berici, about ten meters high, at the base of which is the Grotta di St. Bernardino. Trail 81 passes about 100 meters above these locations.
In the Barbarano Mossano app, available for Android devices and Apple devices, the route is available in gpx or kml format.
