The WWF Oasis Cave of Noale is located in the territory of the municipality of Noale, in the province of Venice, and is one of the preferred destinations, especially for nature photographers in the region, thanks to the presence of numerous animal and plant species. The oasis covers an area of about 20 hectares, is part of a Site of Community Importance (SIC) and Special Protection Area (ZPS) of 40 hectares, and its management has been entrusted to the Committee of WWF Oasis Cave of Noale.
From a vegetational perspective, the area is particularly interesting due to the dense hygrophilous undergrowth surrounding the ponds, composed of tree species such as black alder, gray willow, white willow, white poplar, and black poplar. The ponds are characterized by the presence of plants such as bulrush, reed, and yellow flag iris. In particular, the reed formation has developed significantly and has given rise to an extensive reedbed, one of the most characteristic elements of the oasis. In fact, the reedbed occupies a large portion of the area and represents a unique habitat for various animal species, particularly birds, that find shelter there.
The oasis is open access, equipped with screens for observing wildlife and two specifically designed hides to meet the needs of nature photographers; one is active year-round and is located in front of a shallow pond that is frequently visited by the kingfisher and herons. The second is active only in the winter months when a feeding station for passerines is set up; here there are good chances of capturing the great spotted woodpecker, the Eurasian tree sparrow, the wren, the greenfinch, the robin, and the titmice. Both hides are oriented to the east; therefore, their use is particularly recommended in the afternoon, with the sun at your back.
