The WWF Cave Oasis of Noale is located in the territory of the municipality of Noale, in the province of Venice, and is one of the preferred destinations, especially for nature photographers in the region, due to the presence of numerous animal and plant species. The oasis covers an area of about 20 hectares, is part of a SIC and ZPS area of 40 hectares, and its management has been entrusted to the WWF Cave of Noale Committee.
From a vegetational point of view, the area is particularly interesting due to the dense hygrophilous shrubbery that surrounds the ponds, composed of tree species such as black alder, grey willow, white willow, white poplar, and black poplar. The ponds are characterized by the presence of plants such as bulrush, common reed, and yellow iris. In particular, the common reed formation has developed significantly and has given rise to an extensive reedbed, one of the most characteristic elements of the oasis. The reedbed occupies a large portion of the area and provides a unique habitat for various animal species, particularly birds, which find shelter there.
The oasis is freely accessible, equipped with observation screens for wildlife and two hides specifically designed to meet the needs of nature photographers; one is active year-round and is located in front of a shallow pond frequently visited by kingfishers and herons. The second is only active during the winter months when a feeder for passerines is set up; here, there are good chances of photographing the great spotted woodpecker, the crested lark, the marsh warbler, the greenfinch, the robin, and the tits. Both hides are oriented to the east, so their use is especially suggested in the afternoon, with the sun at your back.
