Pongiluppi Giovanni

The story begins towards the end of the nineteenth century, when Marcello, registered as Giovanni Pongiluppi, starts out as an apprentice and stonecutter. Shortly after, he opens his workshop on Via Tolpada, starting in the funeral sector, but soon expands to construction and furniture. He moves the headquarters to Via Terraglio, on the side of the overpass by the station, where it still is today. A significant figure for the company was Valter, who after nearly 60 years in the business passed away in 2014. For some time, he was joined by his sons Andrea, Ivan, and Giovanni who run the business and continue the tradition of the Pongiluppi stone masons: they work Istrian stone and marbles in the old-fashioned way.
