Born on the path of an ancient branch of the Po, now buried, Fratta Polesine preserves in its architecture the soul of its agricultural origins.
Many are the mansions that belonged to the landowning nobility, like the famous Villa Badoer, built to the design of Andrea Palladio and declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. After meticulous restoration, the villa is now the venue for conferences, exhibitions, theater performances, and operas, as well as ballet. The nearby barchesse instead house the National Archaeological Museum, featuring a display of unique artifacts of European significance. Interesting, for its similarity to the more famous Badoer, is the nearby Villa Grimani Molin, a classic example of a noble countryside residence where the two courtyards, the main one and the work one, are separated.
Within the Palazzo Dolfin-Boniotti, now "Manegium", are located the Ethnographic Museum on the civilization of labor in Polesine, a historical-documentary exhibition on the Polesine Carbonari, and an exhibition on Giacomo Matteotti, who was born right in Fratta Polesine.
In the small town, there are also many architectural traces of religious inspiration, such as the Church of S. Francesco that hosts concerts of sacred music, exhibitions, and conferences, or the parish church dedicated to SS. Apostles Peter and Paul internally decorated with frescoes, valuable wood carvings, and Venetian sculptures.
