Rifugio Campogrosso is a mountain hut at 1457 mt in Recoaro Terme (Vicenza). It is located in the heart of the Italian Little Dolomites (‘Piccole Dolomiti’) and it is surrounded by the Carega and the Sengio Alto mountain groups.
Campogrosso is a European Site of Community Importance (SCI), defined as a site which, in the biogeographical region or regions to which it belongs, contributes significantly to the maintenance or restoration at a favourable conservation status of a natural habitat type. Furthermore is has been named a Special Protection Area (SPA), a designation under the European Union Directive on the Conservation of Wild Birds, and it is part of Natura 2000, a network of core breeding and resting sites for rare and threatened species, and some rare natural habitat types which are protected in their own right.

From Veneto: Recoaro Terme
Rifugio Campogrosso is reachable by car only from the town of Recoaro Terme. From November until May the road might be closed due to snowfall. In this case visitors can park at Rifugio Piccole Dolomiti alla Guardia and walk all the way up to Rifugio Campogrosso (4km, 450D+, 1.5h).
From Trentino Alto Adige:
Visitors can park their car at Passo Pian delle Fugazze (toll parking). From Passo pian delle fugazze visitors shall walk 6km (250D+, 1.5h) and get to Rifugio Campogrosso. The paved road that connects Passo Pian delle Fugazze to Rifugio Campogrosso (Strada delle 7 Fontane) is for pedestrians only and it is not possible to cross it with cars or motorcycles. Special permits are only given to the residents of the town of Vallarsa and to the staff of Rifugio Campogrosso.
