From the gate, a short path leads to a fork; to the left, the 300 trail begins, which should be followed until the Rifugio Papa. Initially, one walks on a flat section that crosses a couple of gravel fields descending from Monte Pria Favella.
The path starts to rise again, with some switchbacks as it passes through a beautiful beech forest first, and then red firs. After leaving the forest, about 40 minutes after departure, one finally arrives in the Val Canale, the largest catchment area that descends from the southern side of Monte Pasubio.
The view “opens up” in a magnificent place. First-time visitors are often captivated and incredulous by the beauty of this place at the foot of Pasubio.
After an initial flat stretch on the left side of Val Canale, one starts to ascend, moving back and forth among the large stones of the gravel field, with a path that is always well marked and well-trodden.
Val Canale gradually narrows, and at a certain point on its right side, one leaves it for switchbacks that steeply ascend to the road of the Heroes, just two hairpin bends below the Rifugio Achille Papa (1926m).
How to get there:
By car from Schio (VI) towards Rovereto (TN), reach the Passo Pian delle Fugazze (1163m) and park the car in the various parking areas nearby. On foot, return in the direction of Vicenza along the road just traveled by car. Begin, always staying at the roadside, the descent of the SP46, heading to the left side, where a dirt road with a metal gate begins. Here the route to Val Canale commences.
