The fort was built between 1908 and 1912 and, along with Fort Corbin and Verena, was part of the Agno - Assa barrier, III sector - Asiago, constituting one of the most important fortifications from a military engineering perspective.
Moreover, it was a nerve center for defense, operating both towards Luserna and towards the Val d'Astico.
It was hit several times by an Austrian 305 mm mortar positioned on the Cost'Alta ridge (Millegrobe) and by July 1915 it was no longer able to respond to Austrian attacks.
The building was destroyed in May of the following year, with the beginning of the Strafexpedition, by shells from the 381 mm Skoda mortar (the famous Barbara) and the 420 mm mortar from Malga Laghetto.
Shortly after, it was abandoned by the Italian army and on May 22, 1916, it was occupied by Austro-Hungarian infantry, who remained there until the end of the conflict.
