The Visitor Center of Tonezza del Cimone was established with the purpose of enhancing the historical heritage related to the Great War and Monte Cimone, to spread knowledge of the events that took place here during the great world conflict. It represents one of the locations of the Ecomuseum of the Great War of the Vicentine Prealps, a stop to discover during walks that allows for reflection on the history of this territory.
The Center meets the goals of education and enhancement of the historical heritage of the Great War fought on Monte Cimone, and promotes knowledge and awareness of the changes that have occurred in the area.
Monte Cimone has a history permeated by the sacrifices and the valor of many soldiers who fought in this place, transforming it into a tragic protagonist of one of the most painful historical events of the entire Trentino front.
Inside our museum, visitors will be able to:
- see reproductions of trenches and barracks with mobile beds lived under enormous difficulties by soldiers during the war;
- find some objects used by soldiers, Italians, Austrians, and Hungarians, who fought in our Country;
- deepen their knowledge of the refugees of Tonezza, through some photos and a dense correspondence from the front;
- observe the areas affected by the conflict, the trenches, and the main positions, thanks to the presence of a model that accurately traces the situation during the First World War.
