Piazzotto Monte Vecchio is the first square in Bassano. It has taken on different names over time: piazza del Pozzo for the presence of a well in a not too distant past, piazza del Sale and piazza degli Zoccoli.
Piazza Libertà, once called "Piazza dei Signori", has two columns with statues on the top on the west side, one representing the Lion of San Marco and the other San Bassiano. Prestigious palaces rise on the north side, including the houses of the ancient Remondini Printing House.
To the east is Piazza Garibaldi, also called Piazza della Fontana or Piazza delle Erbe. In 1898 the arrival of a water pipeline, drawing on the springs of the Fontanazzi, brought pure spring water into the centre and represented an event of national importance.
