Villa Trissino Barbaran in Castelgomberto is an important testimony of 18th-century Venetian architecture, organized as a noble residence, surrounded by vast estates and equipped with rustic outbuildings.
The construction of the initial core is due to the powerful Trissino family. The Villa acquired its current appearance in the early 1700s, as evidenced by the plaque on the tympanum on the side of the building that borders Villa Street, but it retains Gothic elements, signifying the presence of a pre-existing construction: the openings of the noble floor in the rear façade and the loggia on the top floor of the front façade, along with the tower, east of the building. In its current arrangement, the villa presents a façade towards the courtyard, open at the top in the subject area, shifted from the second floor of the Gothic construction. Three openings punctuate the ground floor and the noble floor: the central ones are arched, while the others have a horizontal cornice. The entrance portal is rusticated with a robust curled key that seems to wrap around the upper frame, on which rests the elaborate protruding balustrade of the large upper window.
Curiosity: the large ground floor hall was used as a theater during the period between the two World Wars.
In the post-World War II period, the entire complex was purchased by the Municipality of Castelgomberto.
