Villa Trissino-Centomo
Via San Nicolò, 10 , Trissino - 36070
Villa Trissino Centomo, built in the second half of the 15th century between 1480 and 1495, is located on the hill of Trissino and is believed to be the oldest residence of the Trissino family; on the front there is a plaque from 1493, which commemorates the Renaissance restoration and dates the first foundation of the building to the year 1100. This date is not documentable, but the design of the Trissino coat of arms supported by a single-headed eagle indicates a date prior to 1236, the year when the double-headed eagle was granted for use by Emperor Frederick II to the Trissino family. Today the villa is privately owned. Villa Trissino Centomo opens onto a characteristic courtyard and still preserves its original shape externally. The style, simple and elegant, is typical of the Vicentine civilization of the time. The distribution of the openings on both the ground floor and the first floor is asymmetric. Notable are the curvilinear windows, typical of Vicentine taste in the 15th century, among which there is also a bifora that bears a coat of arms of Trissino halfway up the intermediate pillar. Precious are the small decorative elements at the ends of the centines, above the impost capitals. As for the interior, on the first floor one can admire a door with a bullnose corner, typical of Gothic taste, in whose lintel the city coat of arms reappears. Originally, on the left side of the villa, there was a portico with 15th-century columns contemporary to the moldings of the façade, of which two arches survive, bricked up in a later structure.
