The existence of a sacred building dedicated to St. Cecilia dates back to the medieval period: in the will drafted by a noble Trissino in 1297, a donation to the church of "S. Cecilia di Chiuse" appears. It was almost certainly located in the current municipal square. It should indeed be noted that Chiuse included the area Piazza - Via Bocca, part of the countryside along the course of the Poscola, the hilly ridge M. Castello - S. Valentino - Grumi - Monteschiavi, and the central and southern part of the Val di Lonte: the current square of Castelgomberto was practically the point of contact between the two medieval municipalities of Chiuse and Castelgomberto, which were administratively united between the end of the 14th century and the early years of the following century.
It was the church that symbolized the unification of the two villages: built in contrà Chiuse, a locality that was part of the municipality of Castelgomberto, it became the new parish church of a settlement now unified both civically and religiously. After the construction of the new parish church of SS. Peter and Paul, it was abandoned and demolished. Valuable works that were inside were lost: some altars were transported to the new church, where a beautiful altarpiece, from the school of Pittoni, depicting the martyrdom of St. Cecilia is preserved. It was rebuilt in the early 1950s in Valle, a fraction of the municipality that became an autonomous parish, preserving the identical appearance of the facade. The statue of the saint, placed high above the facade, is commendable.
