In 1922, the four male brothers Bepi, Orione, Italo and Ferruccio, since the four female sisters were all already married, set up the Bar Missaglia in Via Gorizia where, together with the wine bar, the Cenacolo degli Artisti was born thanks to the poetic verve of Bepi (a man of divine verses and diverse wines). The bar was a meeting place for illustrious cultural figures who were passing throughPadova. The activity ceased in 1962.
At the same time, the Missaglia brothers decided to open another bar in January 1940 for family needs, thus arriving at the current premises in Via S. Lucia under the leadership of Italo and Orione. The Tavernetta dei Poeti (Poets' Tavern), another cultural meeting point in the city, was born in this premises. The Tavernetta takes its name from a series of panels placed on the walls of the back room, illustrating episodes from the lives of poets and writers from history (Bembo, Homer, Falstaff, Cavalcanti, etc.) by the Paduan painter Toni Menegazzo (Amen), a great friend of the Missaglia brothers.
The union between the bar, or rather the Missaglia brothers' bar, and the city is testified by many period photographs still preserved in the bar.
