The Monument to the Fallen stands on the ancient site of the city government, the Loggia del Potestà, which was destroyed in the 1920s to make way for the new commemorative building designed by architect Claro Pasinati and inaugurated in 1926.
The building, featuring a loggia with a portico and open internal stairs, is characterized by a pentafora on the main road and a bifora in the square. The façade is adorned with colorful mosaics depicting the coats of arms of those municipalities that, with the victory of Vittorio Veneto, became part of Italy (Trieste, Gorizia, Trento, Rovereto, Bolzano...) and, inside, the Monument houses commemorative plaques and busts of the Fallen in the wars.
On the ground floor, there is also preserved the sixteenth-century statue of the Madonna with Child, the “Madonna degli accusati” which was once placed on the upper floor of the Loggia del Podestà, where justice was administered.
