Evidence of this is the large water mill, unique in the Polesine area, recorded in the Austrian cadastre of 1841 and probably built in the 18th century. The mill remained in operation until 1962 and today retains its impressive machinery intact, just as the navigation lock with its wing gates, which connects the Scortico with the Canalbianco, remains intact.
Such locks are a testament to one of the first waterways in Polesine, established in the mid-19th century, which served, at the level of industrial transport, the waterway already used by Venetian nobles to reach the residences established in the area in the 1500s, including the Palladian Badoer and Villa Grimani Molin Avezzù Pignatelli.
