Martinelli's marvellous work dominates the west façade of the city's town hall, the imposing Palazzo Vaccari, celebrating the Pievigian poet Andrea Zanzotto as an unforgettable figure in the history and soul of the city.
Beneath the poet's shadow, we find the symbolic phrase ‘Lontan massa son “ndat pur stando qua” (I have gone very far while staying here), which recounts the poet's emblematic relationship with his homeland.
To realise the work, the artist applied an original compositional technique that he devised: it is the creation of a plastic graffito through the juxtaposition of a number of mesh meshes, designed to create real shadows.
