The Contenzioso bridge was originally built of red-coloured wood, rested on a single central pillar and was covered by a canopy like that of the bridge at Bassano del Grappa. In recent times, the latter was demolished, on the pretext that people used to take refuge there on rainy days, hindering traffic.
Its name is due to the fights it was often the scene of, so much so that it went down in history as the 'contentious bridge' or 'ponte contenzioso'. It was so called by the Counts Brandolini in their appeal to the Serenissima to denounce some bloody events that occurred in its vicinity. The disputes were due to the different jurisdiction to which the two banks of the river were subject. The right bank belonged to the municipality of Treviso, while the left bank to the podestà of Cison.
Even today, the bridge allows to get to know a piece of Pieve's history and admire the surrounding natural landscape in all its beauty.
