In the past it was used as a military training ground. In it the city fairs were held, while during the epidemics the bodies of the dead were collected. For this reason, in 1631 the Church of San Rocco, patron saint against the plague, was erected.
In 1974 the city created the new Park dedicated to the Boys of '99, the last class of the First World War. In the center of the park stands the monument to the Boys of '99, with a votive shrine attached, strongly wanted by the Association of Veterans of that class. The monument has bronze reliefs depicting 4 episodes of the history of those young soldiers.
