The source of the river Sile allows you to immerse yourself in a corner of unspoilt nature in the heart of the Veneto plain, reachable by bicycle, lost among the fields and poplars of Casacorba, a small hamlet in the municipality of Vedelago. It is here that the river Sile, the symbolic river of the Marca Trevigiana, is 'born'.
The Sile, also known as the 'river of silence', is unique in Italy. This is because it is a resurgence river, which does not originate from a mountainous or hilly chain, but from water springs that rise from the depths of the earth in the middle of the plain. The river's flow rate does not change over the course of the seasons, and in both summer and winter its water level always remains constant.
The Sile 'rises', but it would be better to say 'emerges in a thousand springs' (here called 'fontanassi') in the territory of Casacorba di Vedelago.
The Natural Park of the Sile River is a perfect natural oasis, which continues along the entire course of the river, and can be explored on foot or by bicycle. At the entrance, where there is a car park that can also be used by buses and coaches, you will find a map with the recommended route to best view the park and fully enjoy this unique experience.
