Of the centuries-old cultivation of tobacco, now practically extinct, remains the memory in the characteristic terraces supported with high dry walls, called by the locals "masiere". Rising on slopes almost 500 meters above the level of the Brenta, oriented to capture as much as possible the scarce rays of sun that the walls of the Altopiano dei Sette Comuni and the Mount Grappa allow to the cultivation, the farms were erected completely by hand. In the hope that those 'handkerchiefs of land' could give rise to an income.
The trail can be divided into three parts, each of which can be closed by a loop through the valley descent (always identified on the main route) and the ascent to the starting point along the Brenta River.
The characteristics of the route are as follows:
- from Costa to Valstagna: difference in altitude 600m, distance 10km, time about 3.5 hours;
- from Valstagna to Campolongo: difference in altitude 700m, distance 9km, time 3 hours;
- from Campolongo to Bassano: difference in altitude 400m, distance 7km, time about 4 hours.
The itinerary can also be interrupted and resumed at will thanks to numerous marked paths that cross it, allowing a quick return to the valley.
