Castello di Vidor - Monumento Ossario
Piazza Zadra, 1 , Vidor - 31020
The first testimonies regarding this site, which is located on a raised position compared to the inhabited area, date back to 1100 - although some even refer to 550 AD, when a fortress stood there, to defend against attacks from Alboin first and then from the incursions of the Hungarians. The locality owes its name to the presence of a castle that has experienced alternating fortunes over the centuries and has seen various reconstructions. Completely razed to the ground in 1510, a shrine in memory of the fallen from both world wars has been built on its ruins. It is accessed via an asphalted road, marked by the stations of the Via Crucis. From the top of the hill, in addition to the view, one can enjoy a picnic area or continue on foot along the ridge, which offers remarkable landscape insights.
