Palazzo Garbin was built, based on a project by architect Carlo Barrera, in 1799, on the site of the noble Piovene family. It was commissioned by the Garbin family, who were active in the wool and silk trades. Originally, the building was part of a unified complex that included the manor house, a large park (now Piazza dello Statuto), and the Garbin family's wool factory, which no longer exists.
When the family left Schio, the palace was acquired by the municipality of Schio and became the town hall on May 22, 1914.
The main façade faces Via Pasini, featuring a large neoclassical portal and two smaller entrances.
What was once the rear view of the palace is now the current façade of the Town Hall.
It has a central loggia and simple decorations, the result of the restoration in 1996, aimed at reflecting the original color scheme.
Inside, the noteworthy feature is the 19th-century wrought-iron staircase leading to the various floors.
In 1872, the Garbin factory was purchased by the "Lanificio Rossi" company, which some decades later moved the factories along the Roggia, to the courtyard behind, now the school on Via Marconi. The structure was composed of 4 building sections and remained so until 1910 when the opening of Via Battaglion Val Leogra necessitated the demolition of the eastern wing. The garden was maintained until the 1950s when they decided to pave it and turn it into a public square. In its memory, a Lebanon cedar was preserved, a tree dating back to around 1880, which was cut down in 2006 due to a disease that was irreparably drying it out.
