Since 1996 World Heritage Site and seat of the homonymous organic winery, the villa was commissioned in 1554 by the noble Giacomo Angarano to Andrea Palladio.
While the barchesse are faithful to the Palladian design, the central body was completed in the early eighteenth century by the architect Margutti. The same author is the chapel of Santa Maria Maddalena, located in front of the east barchessa.
The 18 statues of the complex, of considerable value, are attributed to the sculptor G. Cassetti.
In his 1570 "Four Books of Architecture" Palladio describes Villa Angarano as follows: "It is this place famous for the precious wines, which are made there, and for the fruits that come there, and much more for the courtesy of the master".
