"Going slow" by boat, by candlelight, along the Brenta Riviera.
"Artemartours Navigazione" wants to bring attention back to the traditions and ancient rituals of our places, recreating both on the boat and in the villa the atmosphere of the time thanks to the soft light of the lanterns that illuminated the nights in the burci of the barcari; mysteries related to the noble patricians who lived in the historic residences located along the Naviglio will then be revealed. An opportunity to experience emotions and suggestions of the past and listen to stories and anecdotes of river navigation.
PROGRAM
Convening of participants in Dolo at the Wharf in Via Trieste No. 3 at Ponte del Vaso and boarding the Artemartours Navigazione boat.
The lively village of Dolo from which we will depart has been an important commercial hub between the two great cities of Padua and Venice since the past. Dolo is known for the ancient Molino and the squero, an ancient shipyard where boats were repaired. We will sail along the Brenta Naviglio in the direction of Mira, one of the most picturesque riparian villages of the Riviera del Brenta, admiring from a privileged perspective ancient villas of Venetian nobles, revolving bridges and the sluice gates, real water elevators. Along the Naviglio were the transports not only of trade but also of Venetian patricians, who traveled in special flat-bottomed boats called "Burci Bei" (burchielli), pulled directly from the shore by horses and oxen.
We will stop in the village of Mira to visit Villa Widmann (ticket: € 6.00 per person, to be paid on board; children up to 7 years old enter the villa free of charge) an 18th-century jewel that holds important frescoes and keeps intact all the patterns of a Venetian Villa with the main body, stables, guest quarters and private chapel. In the villa we will be welcomed by the music of the 1700s that will transport us to atmospheres of the past... At the end of the day, at sunset, we will undertake the navigation back to the starting point, accompanied by the warm light of lanterns that will make the atmosphere magical.
Sailing at a leisurely pace, as the lights along the Naviglio are lit, an aperitif will be served on board with Prosecco and traditional Venetian cicchetti.
Disembarkation in Dolo and end of the excursion.
