The site is located on a hill known as mùtera, behind the church on Via Tabacchi in Fossalta Maggiore. The Austro-Hungarian monumental cemetery is recognizable by the large cross-shaped tombstone with the statue of a soldier. The monument was erected in 1918, after the Solstice battle, by the Austro-Hungarians, in memory of the officer cadet Karl Anderka, of the 148th Artillery Regiment, who died on June 15, 1918. The stone was crafted by a sculptor who served as a soldier from Trieste. The monument was not completed due to the continuation of the war, as the names of the Austrian soldiers who died in the war hospital set up at Villa Vascellari were to be added.
