The Cason is a poor country cottage located in Piavon, in via Frassenè, in the province of Treviso. It has a lot of historical centuries on its shoulders (probably 300 or 400 years). It’s impossible to know who first lived in this poor country cottage. The life in this cottage became known from 1934, when the family of Giovanni Bertola lived there with his wife Maria and their three children. Mister Angelo Pasqualinotto, also called Tati, lived in this cottage from 1940, with his wife Giustina Furlan and his daughter Adriana. The husband worked as a farm labourer on baroness Lili Rechsteiner’s farm. From 1962, mister Giuseppe Pasqualinotto lived in the Cason with his wife Vittoria Lorenzon. In 1966 Giuseppe died and the poor country cottage became uninhabited. In 1982, through a swap with the farm Rechsteiner, the Municipality of Oderzo became the owner of Casòn. History, the one of great events which is studied in books, often remains a purely scholastic knowledge. Only by deepening our knowledge of the environment around us we can discover the links between history and the events of the territoire in which we live. Especially the buildings of different historical periods (such as: castles, welled towns and houses) can help us discover those links. After the careful restoration of 2001, the “Gruppo degli amici del Cason” of Piavon has engaged in a five-year restoration. Inside the Cason the group has also set up an Ethnographic Museum with the “historical material of the Casoni”, donated by the citizens of Piavon and the citizens of the “Left Piave area” ( “Left Piave area” refers to all those territories located on the left side of the river Piave).
