The old town centre is separated from the sea by a dam. In the past it represented the defence from the floods while nowadays is one of the most beautiful promenades on the coasts of the upper Adriatic Sea. The dam is made of trachyte stones, out of which an outdoor art gallery has been created: “Scoglieraviva”, where the cliffs have been transformed in works of art by sculptors from all around the world.
