Villa dal Verme is one of the rare surviving testimonies in the province of Vicenza of a noble country residence from the 15th century. It is presented in Venetian Gothic style and dates back to the period when the Republic of Venice undertook an impressive land reclamation campaign in the Terraferma.
The reclamation allowed for the removal of very large areas from the swamp between the Berici and Euganei mountains and enabled the Dal Verme family to reach Agugliaro via river, and to identify the site where this architectural gem was built, shortly after 1450.
The Villa dei Dal Verme is considered the "mother" of all other Venetian villas. The building, partially asymmetric, resembles a Venetian palace, features a stunning trifora, and rises on the banks of the Liona river. Today, it can only be visited from the outside.
