Chiesa di Santa Maria Assunta
Piazzale Cenzi 24 , Montebello Vicentino (VI) - 36054
Sort of under the patronage of the Maltraverso family as a chapel dependent on the parish of Santa Maria di Montecchia di Crosara, by the end of the 13th century, the church of Santa Maria was already parochial, collegiate, and provostial: in fact, the parish priest still boasts the title of provost, a unique case in the diocese of Vicenza. The church was rebuilt "from scratch" for the first time in 1448 by the "Comune et homines de Montebello," and a second time between 1776 and 1798; it was consecrated only in 1874.
